Who is The Genezen Project? First the term Genezen comes from the Dutch vocabulary meaning to heal and/or cure. At The Genezen Project we are finding new ways to heal with cannabis. We are working towards finding cannabis strains with specific cannabinoids and terpene profiles that we can use to develop new medicines that will target different symptoms of ailments. Our overall goal is being able to take these different cannabis elements and tailor make medications to help in the healing process of a multitude of illnesses.
The benefits of medical marijuana simply can’t be ignored. Study after study shows this, often controversial, herb is an effective method of treating Chronic Pain, Depression, HIV/AIDS, PTSD, Anti-Biotic Resistant Infections, Seizures, Neurological Disorders, Cancer, and More!
While decades’ worth of research supports the benefits of medical marijuana, there is still much concern surrounding the dangers of getting high. Those who are prescribed this medicinal herb still must smoke or consume it responsibly. Most doctors won’t even consider prescribing it to a minor, even if it could treat their symptoms.

What is CBD?
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the cannabinoid compound that gets the most attention when speaking of marijuana, but THC is just one of 80+ compounds in cannabis. THC is one of the most prominent cannabinoids and is responsible for the herb’s mind-altering effects. Cannabidiol (CBD) is another prominent cannabinoid, responsible for its numerous medicinal applications. Unlike THC, CBD marijuana has no psychoactive effects. Standard cannabis is high in THC, but after great research, marijuana CBD is now available in low-THC/high CBD strains that allow you the medical benefits, without getting high.
Who Can Benefit From CBD Access?
Studies show that cannabis is effective in treating Chronic Pain, Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Alcoholism, PTSD, HIV/AIDS, Schizophrenia, Seizures, Antibiotic-Resistant Infections, Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, Epilepsy, and More.
With medical marijuana now legal in 20+ across the nation and fully legal in a handful of states, research for new ways in which cannabis can manage and treat health concerns is being further explored.
CBD For Seizures
Grand mal seizures are no laughing matter. They can become so severe that the negative impact on quality of life is overwhelming. They can be so severe that, sometimes, medically induced comas are the last result.
Cannabis has proven effective in reducing the frequency and severity of grand mal seizures, so some patients can replace all other meds with medical marijuana and live a life nearly seizure-free.
With low-THC strains, CBD access is now available for both kids and adults.
Is CBD Safe For Kids?
Before low-THC strains, there was minimal research including children. Due to concerns regarding how THC might negatively affect growth and development, research was frowned upon. However, exceptions were made in extreme cases. One of the most recognized cases is that of Charlotte Figi, whose Dravet Syndrome seizures began at the young age of 3-years-old. At their most severe point, Charlotte was experiencing 300 seizures a week, leaving a medically induced coma as her only option.
After exploring their options, her parents worked with a medical team to introduce medical marijuana as part of her treatment plan. It wasn’t easy to find physicians who would consider prescribing cannabis to then 5-year old Charlotte, but after finding a low-THC dispensary, two doctors complied. After proper dosage was determined, Charlotte’s seizures averaged about 3 per month, and she now has a meaningful quality of life.
CBD for kids is still a controversial topic, but more doctors are willing to explore it.
Cannabis For Cancer
Cancer treatment is one the most common uses for medical cannabis. It helps with many related concerns including:
Depression is not uncommon when facing mortality or undergoing painful and invasive cancer treatments, and cannabis is also an excellent way to manage depression.
Marijuana CBD For PTSD and Depression
Contrary to common assumption, it is not the act of “getting high” that, from a medical standpoint, is a reason to turn to cannabis for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression.
Many confuse THC’s psychoactive effects as being what calms and boosts mood, but marijuana CBD is proven to stimulate mood-boosting pathways, without the THC high.
Relief From Inflammation and Chronic Pain
Accident, injury, illness, and disease are often accompanied by internal/external inflammation and pain. Whether the inflammation and pain are chronic or short-term, their effects can be debilitating.
While many prescription medications can be used to treat chronic pain, most are not recommended long-term, either due to their side-effects or because they are highly addictive.
Increased CBD access allows you an effective method of managing joint, muscle, and organ edema and inflammation. Decreased inflammation often goes hand-in-hand with managing pain, but cannabis is also an effective method of calming pain receptors throughout the central nervous system.
Cannabis To Stimulate Brain Growth
There is a clear distinction between the immediate effects of being high and the long-term effects of responsible medicinal use of marijuana CBD.
While the majority of brain development occurs by the age of 25, neurogenesis (brain growth in laymen terms) continues well into adulthood. Once neurogenesis stops in the area of the brain responsible for memory and learning, the hippocampus, several neurological disorders develop and advance, including dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Marijuana CBD stimulates growth in the learning center of the brain and, for many, is a proactive approach to brain health. It is also being tested as both a proactive and post-diagnostic treatment for Alzheimer’s.
The Most Concerning Side Effect Is Eliminated
The psychoactive effects of cannabis are often the greatest area of debate, but marijuana CBD eliminates this side effect.
Next on the list of concerning side effects is what prolonged use of inhaling smoke can do to your lungs; however, this side effect can easily be eliminated with edible oil blends and recipes that allow you to consume this herb in food.
The remaining side effects are minimal, compared to the often life-threatening risks and side effects of almost every prescription drug. As with all natural remedies or prescription medications, everyone responds differently. Potential side effects include rapid heartbeat, short-term spike in blood pressure, unsafe when pregnant or breast feeding, and unsafe to use prior to anesthesia or surgery.
Never Say Never—Even You Might Consider Medical CBD
Many turn to medical CBD as a last resort, and many who advocate medical legalization were once on the other side of the fence. There are many misconceptions about medical applications, namely it is just a legalized form of drug abuse. However, whether or not cannabis can be classified as a “drug” is also a hot topic of debate.
“Drug” debate aside, cannabis prescriptions are not designed to be legal permission to get high, just as prescriptions for any other pharmaceuticals are not designed to be abused.
Often, it requires firsthand experience with the limited options in healthcare or the debilitating effects of illness and disease to lead, once avid anti-legalization, advocates to reconsider their standing.
Medical marijuana can change people’s lives for the better and, unlike most prescriptions, is a highly versatile method of treating pain, illness, and disease. In most cases, use is not long-term.
Is Medical CBD Available In Your State?
While marijuana is only legal in a handful of states, medical marijuana is available in over 20 states. However, even medical marijuana has its restrictions, and it is sometimes difficult to find a physician available to write a prescription or write a prescription for your condition.
The need for relief from pain, illness, and disease is in such demand that some consider moving to a new state to receive the medical treatments they desire.
Petitions and debates regarding general legalization, medical cannabis, and CBD for kids are a constant topic of debate. Check with your local physician or health department to inquire whether it is legal in your state.
A Natural Alternative Treatment—Also Good For The Environment
As more people explore natural alternatives to health and wellness, the demand for cannabis and improved access to CBD continues to grow. Even if a condition can be managed with pharmaceuticals, the desire to turn to nature as a first line of defense continues to increase.
There are so many stigmas associated with cannabis that it is easy to forget it is a naturally occurring plant and flowering herb. Aside from its medicinal benefits, hemp products and marijuana farms provide many environmentally friendly benefits.
Hemp cleanses the soil and air of toxins, and hemp can be an environmentally-friendly alternative to many products. Almost anything made from wood or fiber can also be made from hemp, including paper, carpeting, clothing, and plastic alternatives.
Our goal at Marijuana CBD Access is to educate consumers on the benefits of medical CBD, dispel common myths about cannabis, and share recent studies and research. We are an online resource for those working diligently to support the legalization of this natural alternative and promote the benefits of low-THC marijuana.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and welcome direct questions regarding how medical CBD can positively impact your health, your life, and the environment.
